ON-SITE
STUDENT SERVICES
Individual Sessions
Learning specialist or content specialist services
• direct instruction in one or more specific content areas (reading, mathematics,
etc.)
• telephone or email contacts of ten minutes or less with the student’s
family, teachers, and/or other professionals, as necessary
• the formation of supportive relationships with the student and those
involved in the student’s educational development
• formal and informal educational assessment, as appropriate
• development and implementation of appropriate programs to address the
student’s individual learning needs
• classroom observations and meetings with parents, school personnel or
other professionals
Educational therapy
• includes learning/content specialist services plus
the following:
• strategies for addressing social and emotional aspects of learning problems
• synthesis of information from outside specialists and the student’s
family
• facilitation of communication between the student, family, school, and
involved professionals
• case management as needed
Small Groups
• two or three students with similar needs sharing a session or multiple
sessions with a tutor, specialist, or educational therapist
Workshops
• a series of group sessions designed to foster academic, social, and/or
artistic growth and addressing a specified subject or skill
ON-SITE
PARENT & FAMILY SERVICES
Intakes
• the first meeting for new ESA clients, intended to introduce staff and
family, gather information, and begin designing a service plan
• a review of student records, oral recommendations, and instructional
planning with family, teachers, or outside tutors
Consultations
• a problem-solving session in which we consider the best course of action
for the student
• a review of student records, test results, and/or evaluation reports
• may include resources, referrals, and/or recommendations
• may be a one-time service for an inquiring family or a periodic service
for an ongoing client
Parent or Family Conferences
• meetings attended by parent(s) or guardian(s) of a current ESA student;
may or may not involve student
• typically attended by the director and may include staff who work with
the student
• held at least twice a year to review work, note progress, and discuss
subsequent steps; may also be called to address a specific issue
OFF-SITE
SERVICES
Supplemental Services at Student’s School
• classroom observations
• meetings or instructional planning with teachers, school personnel or
other professionals
• participation in Student Study Team (SST) or Individual Education Plan
(IEP) meetings
RELATED
SERVICES
• writing letters to schools or other professionals on student’s
behalf
• telephone or email communication over 10 minutes
• conferring with teachers or other professionals
• progress reports upon request
• specialized curriculum preparation
*ESA's services typically begin on the hour and last 50 minutes.
