Since opening our Oakland office
in the early 1990’s,
ESA has steadily grown—with corresponding expansion of our client base,
specialist team, and administrative staff. As wonderful as this has
been, my time has increasingly gone to the demands of management. In an
effort to get back to more direct service, I decided to make the following
changes in the structure of ESA.
Instead of employing specialists, ESA is now renting offices
in our shared suite to specialists who provide services as private practitioners.
You can still call 510-873-0801 to reach me directly at
ESA, for educational therapy or testing referrals, or to request information
on how to contact these specialists. This number is now a voicemail
only line, set up so that all calls are confidential and
come directly to me. I will respond promptly—usually within 24 hrs. You
can also reach me by email, at agordon@edservices.org.
My primary goal is to provide
the best service possible: If
one of the practitioners in the suite is appropriate and available for
whatever services are being requested, I will connect the family with her
or him. The specialist will then conduct all correspondence with the family,
from intake and scheduling through conferences and billing. If someone else
seems like a better match for the needs of that particular student, I will
offer the appropriate referral.
I will continue to be available for short- or long-term consultation
and case management for families seeking assistance interpreting test results,
deciding what action to take based on assessments or diagnoses, navigating
the world of school accommodations, managing conflicts around homework, or
considering school placement decisions. I also offer supervision for Educational
Therapists and interns working on completing their required supervisory hours.
Finally, if you want to make a referral to my psychotherapy practice in Oakland
or San Rafael for an adult or couple, please call 415-460-1330.
Thank you for so many referrals over the years, and I hope
to see many more in the years to come.
Warmly,

Ann Gordon, PhD
